The Thriving Music Scene in Perth, Australia / by Lauren Watson

Growing up in my hometown of Perth has been a unique experience. However, I just recently discovered the musical talent surrounding me. After attending many nearby shows, my love and support for the local talent has grown immensely. Every show is always a new and unique experience, adding to a countless list of unforgettable memories. If you are in Perth, or the surrounding areas, I strongly encourage you to pop in to one of the local shows and check out the growing scene. I can guarantee it will be an unforgettable experience. Whether you have heard of the band or not, they always seem to please the crowds that turn up. Some local bands to keep a look out for are:

Small Town Heroes

By far my favorite band out here. Their music is very catchy and easy to listen to. Since the release of their EP, Set Free, their fans have grown rapidly. Their pop punk vibes make a listener want more of their music. Overall, you can’t ask for a better bunch of guys to entertain the crowd.

The Decline

Formed in 2006, they are now touring internationally and showcasing new music to their fans all around the world. If you're into 90’s skate punk then give them a listen. Heavily influenced by Frenzal Rhomb, NOFX, Lagwagon, Descendents, Less Than Jake & Propagandhi, they've really put their own stamp on this genre.  With several recent releases, it's safe to say these guys aren't stopping any time soon.

Honorable Mentions:

Puzzle, Dan Cribb & The Isolated, Matt Gudgeon, Red Moon, Metronova, Sophomore, Sanctions, & One Last Thing
